Over heating '84 944

I changed the coolantmyself about a month ago, drove it a couple times and she ran fine. I drove about 3 miles yesterday, got to the freeway, she started running a bit rough. Got off the freeway, about 6 more miles noticed temp gauge about 3/4. The fans wouldn't come on unless I turned on the A/C.Left A/C on, the temp gauge went down tomiddle, I drove her home on the freeway, sheseemed to run ok. When I got off the freeway, at the stoplight, she was idling rough and accelerating rough, but the temp gauge was in the middle. I had not turned the A/C off at all to keep the fans running. Why didn't she run smoothly when the temp gauge showed anormal reading? If there is air in the system, why didn'tshe over heat before? She has real loworiginal miles. Please help!

Sounds to me like there is air in the system. Get the car warmed up, and crack the bleeder valve a few times to see if you can get air out (make sure your heater is on full blast hot as well).
