power seats not working
 

Hi all

Can anybody tell me how to diagnose the problem with the power seat in an 86? The rear motors/ swtich works, however the front does nothing. No clicks, no noise, nothing. So I'm not sure if the problem is the switch or the motor. Also is there a manual adjustment for this. I just need to lower the seat somehow.

Also, any ideas on fixing and diagnosing a door light switch? THe ligths both work, but do not come on when the driver side is opened, they only work wit the passenger side door.

Put 12 volt power to the motors directly and see if they move. If they do, then it is your switch (most likely). Rarely do I see motors fail.

For the door switch, I would replace the little contact switch.

Hi again

I still have not had a chance to look at the seats, but I do know that the door switch is not the problem with the interior lights. What else should I consider. I'll probably not worry about this too much more, its really minor.
