Reference/Speed Sensor

Normal 0 Are the “reference mark sensor” and the “speed sensor” the same part / part number? They appear to be the same. I broke the “speed sensor” during the clutch removal process. I have found several sensors that are called “reference / rpm” sensors. I believe both these items are the same part and just supply different information to the car. The part is too expensive to make a mistake. Thanks, Mike

RE: Reference/Speed Sensor

Yes, they are the same. BMW uses the same sensor and it is a lot cheaper (at least half the cost), with the only difference being it has a longer wire, as their sensors are mounted lower on the bellhousing. IIRC if you pick about an 86 3 series, you should be able to find it.
