replacing 944 lower control arm bushings

I have to replace a lower control arm bushing. is this something that the average "shade-tree" mechanic can do. i have read that you have to completely remove the arm and take it to have the new bushing machine pressed in. Does anyone know how easy or difficuly this may be?
