Replacing Ignition switch

Help !!
I have lost the only key for my 1987 944.
I have bought a complete set of locks off ebay that I need to install.
I am currently trying to remove the ignition switch from the steering column.
I have got to the point where I need to remove the two vertical bolts from the clamp that gors round the steering column.
The workshop manual says insert an Allen key and remove the two bolts.
However, yhe bolts on my car are "blind" bolts. They may be Allen bolts with something filling the concave hexagon. Does any one know how I remove these bolts. Any advice would be appreciated

RE: Replacing Ignition switch

First I have to ask why you didn't go to the dealer with your registration/info and get a key cut/ordered specifically for your car. It's really not expensive compared to the effort you will go through replacing all the key cylinders/locks. The bolts you are referring to are called shear bolts. When first installed they have a regular hex head on them. When the proper torque is reached, the head breaks off leaving a tamper resistant bolt in place. Have fun with those. Good luck!

Hind sight is always 20/20, but yes, you will have to drill/grind them off.

he probably assumed like most things on his porsche it would be over priced especially at the dealer. now on to the business. does any one know the screw size this link has inspired?

I bought a vw lock and keys 10$. Even with the top if the key about 1/2" back. Drill a small 1/8" hole and push the spring down with a tiny jeweler screwdriver. The whole key section pops out. Only took off the steering wheel, blinker/wiper handles, and the two covers above and below. Took 15 minutes. Starts and all accessories come on! Nothing worked before as the little push was worn down. Also watch the little spring it sets in the hole in the housing.

Mine is an 84 so it might be different.
