Short Throw Shifter?

Does anyone know if there are any Short Through shifters available for 1988 turbo S's? which i think has the same gear box as the 1989 turbo??? or is there anythign i can do to improve the shifter because it feels extremely long throw and sloppy!!!???

RE: Short Throw Shifter?

Yes, 944racing (now out of business) use to make a shifter, and also hmmmm autothority as well IIRC. It actually attaches on top of the transaxle (will fit any 944 model), not at the shifter itself...the handle is not changed at all. Very short throw. I dont know who is carrying the shifters at this time, i have been meaning to try and find a supplier so i can sell them, but haven't found anything yet. If i find something i will let you know. One just went on ebay last week for 60 bucks. I think new they were in the 100-125 range.

Ok, i guess weltmeister makes one (50% reduction i think), sold by paragon-products.com for just under 200. If your shifter has any side to side play in it, then you probably want to pick up a new shift lever as well for 46 bucks, as the pins wear out on them.

edit: Eagle day has them for 119 by Schnell (30% reduction). http://shop.store.yahoo.com/eagleday/944shshki.html
