Spitting and sputtering.

Hello everyone. I'm having kind of a weird problem with my 944. At idle everything runs as it should with no sputtering or anything like that. The problem begins when I give it any gas at all. It acts as though it's starving for gas, the engine with rev then the RPMs will drop then it will rev again and this cycle will continue until I let off the gas entirely. I pulled all the plugs thinking I might be getting a bad spark but the plugs were fine. Then I pulled the fuel filter thinking something might be caught in it, but that was fine too. Now I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

I would check your tps for starters, then move to the speed and reference sensors. If those test good, then start looking for vacuum leaks, check the fuel pressure, etc.

What are the procedures for checking these things?

The factory manuals will walk you through it.
