Starter Problems - 2

Hi again, I am still having a problem with my 84 944 not starting. But I have a question, does the 944 have a switch to let the car know that the car is in neutal or that the clutch is in? Because in neutral, the car makes the same click noise when trying to start it if I have the clutch in or out. Just a thought. Thanks!

Mitch

Nope, you should be able to start it without the clutch.

I have the same issue with my 84. I turn the key over and a slight noise, but nothing. Usually after 10 minutes i can start it.

Figured it out yesterday guys! The +ive clamp on the battery, it has a clamp that the cable is tightened to the post clamp. I took the 2 1/4" bolts out and removed the bridge type clamp and found that even though the cable looked fine from 1st look, that there was a fairly thick buildup of corrosion and rust. Cleaned everything and put it back together. Better than new!!!!! Thanks for everything guys!!!

Yep, I thought that it may be a problem with the wires! Glad to see you're back on the road!!! ;)
