Strange heating problem....

I have another interesting problem, hopefully someone has had some experience with this... anyway, on the "new" 944.5, the heat is on all the time and it puts out really hot air. Nothing seems to turn it off, and I just was on 944online looking for oil cooler parts and noticed a "heater control valve" for sale. Anybody have any problems like this or have any suggestions? I have the coolant drained as of last night to work the oil cooler issue, this would be a great time to troubleshoot the heater problem. I have no real leaks in the cooling system, but there IS oil in the water (from the oil cooler problem). Other than that, the thing just pours the heat into the passenger compartment and it isn't really comfortable.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Dbanger

First check the vacuum connection from the heater control valve to the firewall and make sure that is on. Then there is also a small plastic clip underneath the drivers side interior under the dash for the AC/Heater unit that has a tendency to break. I think they are all of 2 bucks.

Thanks, you caught me signing off for the evening and heading for the garage. I'll see if I can locate these and get that problem fixed.

YOu know, if you have the coolant drained, it would be a good time to just replace the HCV. It has a tendancy to leak over time and then spills coolant down your bellhousing, and into the clutch, which ruins it. One of those preventative things......

The PorscheDoc is right when he says the thermostat is a b@$7@4d of a job to do. I spent an whole day trying to replace mine when my S2 started to overheat, only to find out that it was the water pump that was f^£&3d..... so I had to have the waterpump off anyway![:@]
