My 1985.5 944 seems to be having a tach problem. It works some times and I noticed a red light located top center of the dash comes on now and then. Any sugestions with these 2 issues?

The red light can come on for numerous things. Low oil level in the later 87+ cars, low brake fluid, parking brake on, etc for the earlier cars. The tach not working could either be an issue with the gauge itself, or the speed sensor where it takes it's reading from.
