Water temp ?

I'm noticing that my h2o gauge seems to be moving erratically, it moves around within the correct range but i'm becoming nervous about the possibility of overheating.Fan is kicking in , but it will run at the 3rd bar then all of a sudden it will drop back to center, then return to the 3rd bar then back again. Is this a thermo problem? or is it a sign of electrical malfunction?
Thanks...Mc.

RE: Water temp ?

Well, it will vary while you drive. Since it is going up to the 3rd line, I am guessing you should probably put in the cooler auxillary fan switch. My car runs at the first white mark while driving. If sitting at a stop light in warmer weather, the temp mark will go to the 9 oclock position, the fans will kick on, then it will drop back to the first mark. This is normal operation.

If the gauge on the other hand is bouncey, then replace the temp sensor and clean your grounds.

Hi Doc, yes the gauge is bouncy(it has not done this before now).Looks like i'm tracking down temp sensors this weekend...lol.Modified fan switch?...huh?..Will it engage the fans at a lower temp? This would be great, can I order this part from local import auto store or is it a dealer-only item?
Your help is much appreciated...Mc.

Can I also suggest a coolant drain down and a flush out with clean water. Ie Bottom hose off and flush from filler tank. Then refill with Clean Water and Summer Coolant or Antifreeze.
Regards Big Bob
