whats the difference, 944 S and S2?

my dad has found a friend with a 944 S for salewith a 6 cyllender engine, now is it a v6 or straight 6? also are people calling 944 S2's 944 S for short, or is there a difference?

back to the car, it has been in storage for 10 years, dry i hope so that nothing gets corroded, they're both mechanics so they know a bit. Its an 87' 944 S gold with black interior and he said i ran great when he stored it.

any comments or advice?

The S is not an S2. The S is a 4 cylinder 2.5L engine DOHC, while the S2 is a 4 cylinder 3.0L engine DOHC. The S2 also has the turbo body panels, and the S is the standard NA narrow body with NA bumpers. The S was produced in 87 and 88, with the S2 in 89-91

If it has a 6cylinder in it, I would be very suprised. I am guessing someone just didn't know what they were looking at.
