I tried to start my 99 boxster today, and at first it was very sluggish trying to start, so i turned it off then tried to start it again at which time it started makinga repeated tick tick tick very quickly like it was trying to start but never would engage or something I tried unplugging the battery and plugging it back in but the problem continued ,any help would be greatly appreciated

RE: 99 boxster wont start
Your battery is dead. Replace. Get a battery from the local parts store. Group 48 battery. Porsche batteries suck and are overpriced.

RE: 99 boxster wont start
Our 2003 lost a battery about 12 months ago. Luckily under warranty, but the dealer hinted that he was doing me a favor. I was told that our car must be driven a minimum number of miles per year, or the battery warranty is void. The car was about 2 years old at the time and had 19K miles. New battery is working fine, but I'm not going back to Porsche when it goes out. What brand does everyone here use?
Thank you. Greg |

My last one went 8 years in my truck. They do need to be driven on a regular basis though, and if you are not driving it at least once per week, then you need to have a trickle charger hooked up to the battery to maintain the charge. They make them so they are quick disconnect, you don't even have to open the hood to do it. If you leave a battery sit for too long, it will drain eventually. There is nothing worse for a battery than to sit dead. They won't hold a charge well after that. |

Hey..its Just like Radiator Coolants. Most Coolants at pepboys or wallmart are made by one company down at Torrance, Californiaand labeled for that particular retailer.

Thanks for the battery tip. I have had lots of luck with the WalMart batteries and they are very reasonable. I purchased a battery at Auto Zone and another at Wal Mart. They looked the same, had the same casing, but different labels and Wal Mart was about $20 less.
I recently changed the battery in our 1995 Volvo 960. The original Volvo battery finally died (amazing battery) and I bought the Wal Mart replacement. The Volvo battery was about 20% heavier, but was the same size. Does anyone know if this means it was a better battery? Thank you. Greg |
