:DBoxster is a great car, it was reliable when I had it go here and you can see parts and pricing http://www.mbsautoparts.com/porsche-boxster-parts.htm

These are Mahle or Bosch:

Oil filter 8 bucks
fuel filter 32
Plugs 4 (NGK)
Air filter 20-30 bucks depending on Mahle or K&N

I heard rumors that they are pricey to fix. My uncle said that there is a service plate, and that you cant even get to the engine bay. This may be a lie, but then again I have not seen the engine from the top. Is there even a place to get to the upper section of the motor.

RE: Need help to make a good choice

Everyone:
Pricey to maintain and fix COMPARED TO WHAT? Compared to a Chevy Malibu of course. Compared to any Ferrari (Had a 308, what a nightnare), or similar high performance cars? NO.
The Boxster is a very reliable everyday drivable car. Of course as all high end imports the dealerships and the manufacturer know that they can ask for a premium price for parts and service.
Yes there are such things as a 30k service, but not comparable to any Ferrari or so. I got mine done for $ 600,00.-- . Mainly new plugs and filters.
The engine is hard to get to of course. Mostly it needs to be accessed from below. Belts are accecible trhough a panel behind the seats. But again, there is bareley that much more maintenance. And do you REALLY need to change plugs at 30k? Well I do, because I want top shape and peak performance. And on a Chevy Malibu or Toyota Camry I wouldn't give a damn about it.
So its all relative

RE: Need help to make a good choice

Agreed, they are more expensive to maintain, both due to labor and parts, when compared to something like a mustang or a camaro, etc. Ford garages usually don't charge $105 an hour for labor (which is about where we are), plus parts directly from porsche are more expensive. More expensive than a ferarri....no but most people have not owned a ferrari....a boxster in particular is usually a step up from a domestic sports car.
