Default Oil Filter Housing wrench size

hello all,

i am changing the oil in my 2003 boxster; everything was going smoothly until i got to the oil filter housing. i have been strugglingto removeit.. can't determine the actual size of wrench that i need to use. i have an adjustable wrench which isn't working well in this case. can someone please tell me the actual size (some website said 74mm, but it a little big and slips)?

thank you!

74mm should be the correct size. I have found that the plastic ones will slip though. You need an aluminum or metal cap type tool. What you can do though with the plastic ones, is put a paper towel over the filter housing, then slide on the wrench. Usually that is enough to grasp the housing and turn it off.
