smoke from side vent

i was reverse parking up a hill when i noticed smoke coming out of the side vents of my 2005 987 boxster. the smoke smelled like something was burning. it happened again when i was going up a steep hill from standing.

what is the smoke? is it something that i should be worried about (cos it did scare me!)

If it smells like somethings burning, i would worry lol...Why don't you bring it by the dealer? Don't you have a warrantee on it? Usually porsche dealers check out the car for you @ no charge, unless it's a major problem.

If somethings burning, its most likely oil...which could be a numberous amount of things....Valve cover gasket might be shot, your leaking oil and it's burning off the cylinder head, or could be blowing your head gasket....

Your best bet is bring it by a mechanic, or a dealer, whichever would cost you less, and check it out...I wouldn't keep driving it unless you have it looked at, you could make the problem worse, and it could empty your pocket even more than it probably already would. lol

Let me know your findings...
