smoke on start-up
our 2002 boxter with 26000 miles on it, blew white smoke out on start-up this morning. There were no abnormal engine noises or performance problems up to this point. Any ideas on what I should consider at this point?

RE: smoke on start-up
From what I was told in the forum.. It is normal on start up when it burns up the oil..

RE: smoke on start-up
This is the first time since we bought it that it did this after only an evening of sitting idle in the garage. I know it does it on radial aircraft engines, but this was scary.

I found out most people own Porsche don't drive it that much, your 2002 only has 26000 miles :-) My put about 2000 miles per month in my box :-] and I live on an island :D |

RE: smoke on start-up
Hi~
I had 1998 Boxster auto. before and now I drive 2004 Boxster manual. That happened to my boxsters several times, and this is very normal. When that happens in your garage, white/blueish smoke will cover your garage like cloud. So, theres nothing to worry about :) |
RE: smoke on start-up
This happened to me.Lots of white smoke.Dealer said this was normal, particularly after the car sits for long periods of time.
Did get a new catalytic converter...dealer said it was unrelated. ;) 2003 Boxster S with 15k miles. |
