smoke on start-up

our 2002 boxter with 26000 miles on it, blew white smoke out on start-up this morning. There were no abnormal engine noises or performance problems up to this point. Any ideas on what I should consider at this point?

This is the first time since we bought it that it did this after only an evening of sitting idle in the garage. I know it does it on radial aircraft engines, but this was scary.

Porsche dealer told me this is normal, I have a 2006 Boxster S, I drive it everyday, it happen to me a few time, but the white smoke only shoot out once when I start the enginee and then gone. According to Porsche, my car has a flat six engine, "flat", that is why sometime oil will get trap or I should say left over, especially if the car get stuck in traffic for a long time... when you start to car, it just burn it off. Nothing to be alarm of. However, if it happens all the time and continue for many days, then you need to check it out.
I found out most people own Porsche don't drive it that much, your 2002 only has 26000 miles :-)
My put about 2000 miles per month in my box :-] and I live on an island :D

Hi~
I had 1998 Boxster auto. before and now I drive 2004 Boxster manual.
That happened to my boxsters several times, and this is very normal.
When that happens in your garage, white/blueish smoke will cover your garage like cloud.
So, theres nothing to worry about :)

This happened to me.Lots of white smoke.Dealer said this was normal, particularly after the car sits for long periods of time.

Did get a new catalytic converter...dealer said it was unrelated. ;)

2003 Boxster S with 15k miles.
