top problems on boxster

I replaced the broken parts on my top, which were the thick steel hinge that goes onto the motor and the rod that connects to the hinge, but when I go to put down the top it allows the cover to life up ok, but doesn't move the top at all, any ideas guys? Also doesn't allow it to close completely, just enough that the light is still on but anyhow, get back to me when you can guys, thanks.

If the top isn't moving it is because you don't have the arms with the plastic ball sockets connected to the top end, or the big steel piece you replaced.

everything is connected i have doubled checked this a few times. Can you think of something else? I have read that you have to reset the motor because it has cycled without the top moving, but unsure how to do this. Any info on this?

If your rear section is moving up and down, that means the motor is moving and something up front isn't connected. Are both transmissions moving?

Both transmissions sound like they are moving but it's not turning the steel part on either. What can the problem be? I know the motor is still good so i dunno how to exactly diagnose this.

Oh, if the steel part isn't moving then it is time for new cables and transmissions. Remember when I told you those steel arms don't just break.....

how do i test the cables? and are the transmissions expensive? Just weird that is was working fine not to long ago, well was on one side. Is there a chance that it could of gotten out of lined? Just don't wana spend the money if i dont have to.

What do you mean it was working on one side? To me that tells me that the opposite transmission or cable failed. They are expensive yes. I don't know how to talk you through fixing and timing the top properly, it is a bit of a process. You might want to let a local independent shop look at it.
