vibration at 3200 rpm

I have a 2002 Boxster. It has 23,000 miles on it. It is a 5 speed. About a month ago I started getting a rumbling, vibration that I could feel. It seems to come from the back of the car. It only occurs between 3000 and 3200 rpm. It occurs in any gear. I took it to the dealer and he said it was from the variable camshaft. He said not to worry about it, he had seen it before. I am not satisfied. Anyone have any ideas?

RE: vibration at 3200 rpm

Hello b833.
I was talking to my friend yesterday who works for a local Porsche dealer. I mentioned to him about your problem that I read on this froum. He says do not drive your car and get it to a service immediately. If the dealer thinks it is no problem my friend says stop using that dealer for your service.

Good Luck.

RE: vibration at 3200 rpm

I have driven a lot of Boxsters and most have some sort of very slight vibration. It is due to the harmonics of the car. Most of the time you would be hard pressed to feel it unless someone points it out. I would take it to you dealer if you are concerned.

Good luck.
