Is Active Suspension worth it?

Hi everybody,

I am new to this forum and looking to buy a new Cayenne 2008 S and am wondering if the Active Suspension option is worth the money. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

If you plan on towing anything heavy then YES!

Without the active suspension, a heavy trailer will push the rear end of the cayenne all over the place.

RE: Is Active Suspension worth it?

The truth is that most people will never notice it. However, the ability to lower and raise the car allows better driving dynamics on the road (lower setting) and, for those who do offroad driving like me,better clearance (higher setting). Whenever I take my Cayenne Turbo into the shop for general routine maintenance, I am often given a base Cayenne to drive...and the lack of active suspension makes a noticeable difference in driving (at least for me). I tend to put the car on the second to lowest setting, lowers the center of gravity, and the car corners much easier and faster. This year I will also be using the Cayenne to tow a 3300 lb. trailer and a sports car.
However, if you are questioning whether you need it...you probably don't. If you are like most Cayenne owners, you will never take the car offroad and never use it to tow...if this is the case, save yourself some money and don't get it.

Thanks for the advice. My wife also seems to like the comfort ride setting while we are riding together..

Of course, no matter what Cayenne model you get, you have the choice of comfort, normal, or sport mode. I tend to drive mine in sport mode, which makes the ride a little harsher. The PASM is of course optional and deals with the ride height which most people will never need. Hope all of this helps.
