newer cayenne base or older S purchase insight?

Greetings all!

If faced with the situation of choosing between a 2006 Cayenne and a 2004 Cayenne S, which one would you choose and why?
Assume pricing is comparable and 2004 is higher mileage.

I feel like I'm weighing newer = technology versus older = 4.5L v8 ;)
Thats a complete assumption, I hope some Cayenne-heads here can tell me if there even really is anything slick technology-wise that an older model wouldn't have.

My factors:
-I'm not terribly concerned about mileage. I do about 8-10k a year.
-I tend to change cars every 5 years.
-I would generally take technology over power due to sitting in L.A. traffic, if it were that much more spiffy. (I think Acura has really great interiors with a lot of amenities. I'm just not impressed with their line of SUVs.)

I've done quite a bit of reading but I can't seem to find much on Cayenne vs Cayenne S in general. Just lotsa stuff on Cayenne S vs Turbo for the same reasons I have.
Does anyone have any insight they mind sharing?

thanks in advance!
chet
