Maintenance Cost

Can anyone give me an idea of what maintenance costs/fees would be on a Cayman or a Cayman S? I am thinking about buying one or the other and dont want to get hit with a huge maintenance bill every 10,000 miles or so.

Is there periodic maintenance that needs to be done to this car? And if so, what does it cost?

It is important to do maintenance and service by the book (the book that comes in the glovebox) exactly -- don't put it off or deviate from the service intervals and the specifics of the type of oil, brake fluids, etc.

Porsches require maintenance pretty much in proportion to their cost relative to other cars. As an overall estimate of total repair and service costs, take what you would expect to spend on a car of equivalent age that cost, say, $16,000 list when new: a Ford Focus, etc..
- multiple that by 150% because the Porsche is imported and has a small dealer network
- now multiply that by three because the Cayman S costs about three times what a Focus does
That gives you a reasonably good idea of what the Porsche will cost you to keep up, long term: about 4.5 to 5 times what a Focus does.

Sometimes, the cost of maintenance depends on the location. According to the new Automotive Agony Index, it is more expensive in some states than in others. For instance, there is a vast difference in the cost of owning an auto, Brooklyn to Tuscon. Insurance and fuel costs vary greatly from region to region.
