It does not happen all the time but on occasion. could this be the starter or some other common problem? Suggestions appreciated. car is Manual 5 speed

Hi to all,
Apart from worn out gears in the transmission, there could be faults with the bearings in the car. Bearings are located all over the car, and a damaged one could be the cause of a whining noise from the engine. So you want to have these checked, especially your alternator, water and power steering pumps.
