Any Forum Members familiar with the BBC TV show Top Gear, will be aware that Jeremy Clarkson has been in love with the Audi R8 and was quite abusive to Richard Hammond over his supporting the 997 Porsche Carrera 2S in a drive shoot out of thetwo cars. The assesment I felt was skewed because as the Audi is a 2 seater,they should have run it against the similarly priced 997 GT3, which would have wiped the floor with the R8 in ALL circumstances!
Well Clarkson got the R8 nominated at the Top GearAwards 2007 Car of the Year. A great travesty of justice!But no doubt such support will get him a healthy discount on his next Lambo!
Any Forum Member actually driven an Audi R8 to provide personal comment?

nice car and for the price its amazing we have all of our incoming units sold which brings up the point that you can find a 911 or you could wait on an R8 they are pretty different all around. I like both it would be a tough call without having tracked an R8 or having ridden in one at any rate of speed.

 

The Porsche...any day dude! The R8 it's a VW!!!

actually if you look it up on youtube.com they did just that comparo. Clarkson spins the porsche into a barrier about 10 seconds after he tells the camera "I dont like the porsche because you can never feel comfortable when your pushing it, you always have to worry about it getting away from you." (or something similar, not a quote) the white Stig then toes off against one of the Nurburgring test drivers in an R8.....and smokes her flat out.
