I was looking at some old 944s and 924s because I thought they were the only Porsche I could afford. Then I find that Boxster convertables 1997-2002 can be bought for under $10K. I always thought the Boxster was a super nice ride- am I mistaken?

It just doesn't compute to me that I could but a 1986 944 Turbo for $9k or a 2000 Boxster. Now I'm starting to think what's wrong with Boxsters?

 

You can find a few in this price range. Realize that they will cost significantly more to keep up than the 944s which are the only Porsche that is really simple and basic to maintain. A $10K Boxster will be old, high mileage, and/or englected -- all potential reasons for concern. Be careful. Have a contingency fund for at least one major repair, and have the car inspected carefully before buying.
