Good morning! Upon leaving my garage this morning, I was unable to put the top down on my 2000 Boxster. I had it in neutral and had the emergency brake on. Unlatched the latch on the top. I pushed the "top down" button on the dash and nothing happened. No noise, and the indicator light on the dash didn't come on. Nothing. I turned the car off, restarted, and tried again. Nothing. Can anyone give me some info before I make that appointment with the Porsche dealership and be relieved of $$$?

I would guess you have a bad emergency brake switch or a bad microswitch where the handle latches.

 

May be your convertible top controller has come loose? It's the "double sized" box up under the dash in the drivers footwell. Just try to wiggle it while you press it upwards...
