Default Coolant temp gauge slightly past middle

I have a 2002 boxster, i came home one day and all the coolant came out it was very warm in the 90's. I had my coolant cap replaced about two years ago when this happened back them, the dealer said it was the cap. This time I replaced coolant and so far it doesn't come out or leak, but is it normal for the temperature gauge to be around 190-200 slightly past the middle. Also I put Leak coolant , not porsche OEM, what can i do about this , is it safe? I have only 34k miles. thanks

I had a friend who just bought the twin to that car. His is a 02 Boxter S and he did not experience any leak on the ground although, his temp started rising super fast one day. Turns out his coolant resovour had a full on crack. He ended up having to change out the whole thing, it was about 650 bucks.
