Hot Idleing
My 1977 3.0 Carrera starts fine from cold,, Idles a little lumpy but runs well, When I drive it for a while and turn her off and then restart her she will not hold the revs and cuts out. she will also do this in traffic, any suggestion as to how to rectafi this ??
Assuming there are no other indicators like warning lights showing etc, I would suspect that the hot fuel air mixture is particularly wrong. It sounds from your description of your Cold Idle that the mixture may be "rich" (too much fuel in the fuel air ratio), and while this will work when the engine is cold, when more fuel helps, once it is hot it does not like it. Is your exhaust exit sooty, and do you get a bit of black smoke when you rev the car hot?
If yes, then get someone to do an exhaust gas analysis for you this will establish how far adrift the car is.
When was the last time the car was serviced? Has the Air Filter been changed? Have the Spark Plugs been checked cleaned and reset?
All the above could influence the cause of your fault.
