Default I want performance!

I Have a 1983, 944, 2,5. It is as standard as can be.

Our clubmembers are going to have 800m sprints in a little coastal town in October. Nothing serious but a big competition between the members themselves.

I heard through the grapevine that one of the members tuns his 944's fuel mixture screw 1.5 turns richer for the competition. Ok that I can also do but one of my friends recommend that I go and buy 25 litres of 102 octane petrol and use this as wel. On my car's fuelcap is a sticker that states "98 octane Minimum".

My question is will it damage my enjin or fuelsystem if I do that?

The second question is what else can I do to outrun my club rivals?

You can run higher octane if you want, but unless you change the timing, it won't do a bit of good. 944's have a fixed timing, so that is the problem.

Thanks for that advise, but the highest octane grade petrol availablein my country is 95 LRP. (Lead Repalcement Petrol).

For 800m I'd take the air filter out. It's probably the biggest restriction in breathing. Also raising the tire pressure as high as you can.

Lol, what country are you located in?

Also, keep in mind that 98 octane rating is a RON rating. I know the United states uses an RON+MON/2 rating, which is actually lower than the RON rating used in Germany and the rest of the world.
