'87 944 Clutch or Transmission
JUST got a "new" 944, and am very excited. It's very rough, and looking forward to it's restoration. Today, while taking it for a spin, the clutch very suddenly ceased working. I was accelerating out of a stop, it made a loud noice, and then it felt like the clutch wouldn't fully engage. I can easily move from gear to gear, no difference in the way the clutch pedal feels. When in gear, it will move forward (or reverse, if that's the selection), but it's just not fully grabbing. Since it came on suddenly, I don't suspect clutch wear, but am wondering if it's a spring or SOMETHING? Any direction would be very much appreciated!

Sounds like the clutch is done to me. Could be the rubber center is giving out. Check the easy things like making sure the CV axles are still attached ,etc. You can pull the starter and look for any trace of rubber chunks or powder.
