Back in the Saddle Again
I am back from a 1997-2012 hiatus from Porsche. I just purchased a 1987 911 and have grown to love it in a very short time. I had wanted a 930 since the mid seventies so it was a long time coming. The car is everything I thought it would be and more. My previous Porsche experience was with a 1986 NA 944 that I purchased on the tourist delivery program in 1985. I would still have that one if not for an unfortunate incident in which it was totaled in 1997. It was a lot of fun even though it wasn't very fast. I enjoyed a week of tooling around Europe in my 944 before the factory shipped it to Charleston. I was stationed in The Pentagon at the time and I went to Charleston when they notified me that the car was in. When I went to PCNA HQs to pick it up on a Friday they told me it was not unloaded from the ship yet and needed to be serviced and detailed before I could have it. I had to be at work Monday morning and couldn't pick it up. I had to get my sisters to retrieve it for me and was able to get it the next weekend. It was a hard week of anticipation. I'm glad to be back in the fold.
