Default Boxster 2000: Heavy smog

Hi,

I have a boxster 2000. I just noticed that today all of a sudden HEAVY white smog started coming out from the car when i start it. I decided not to drive the car after all. Does anybody have an idea what might be the problem?

Thanks,
TheGuest

You mean white smoke from the exhaust? If it only lasts fifteen seconds or so upon start up it is not uncommon and probably nothing to be concerned about. It if lasts longer, and particularly if it continues when you drive the car, you have serious problems as it indicates either oil or collant in the combustion chambers or exhaust ports - neither is good and both will require major work on the engine.

I figured, it is an AOS (air oil separator) problem (very likely).

Does anybody know what the normal amount of oil should be there when I disconnect it?
