New Guy with...
a 83 944, with 93,000 miles.
This car was given to me by a friend of mine who got tired of tooling around with it. It has had some electrical issues of late, mostly with the fuel system, but other wise it is straight, no rust, it does need new front seats and carperting. Does anyone have suggestions on getting these redone or ordered.. also any hints at what to look out for?. Pics when I can find where the kids put my camera.

Well you can probably find used carpet sets on ebay pretty cheap, or if you want new, you can look into world upholstery's stuff, though it isn't cheap.
Seats....well again, not really a cheap option anyway you go. You can do cheap recovering, and they will look like cheap recovered seats, send them out and have them professionally done $$$$, or just buy a different set of seats that are in better shape.

Thanks for the advice, i found a seat recoverer near by, i will be calling for an estimate. my priority right now is getting the fuel problem fixed. It looks like the fuel relay is malfunctioning as the car does not get fuel. Also the wires to the fuel relay are getting really hot as they appear to be melting (Malformed right now). I searched and found this to be a common problem.

update
OK, spent most of day trouble shooting my 83 944. It has a build date of 3/82 in case it matters.
Engine will crank, but will not start...
There is no power to the coil...
There is no power to the fuel pump...
Fuel Pump is functional (Bypassed the relay)..
Fuel Pump relay is new
I am unsure of where to go from here, Could replacing the DME computer help in this matter, If yes, could a used one be used or is it better to get a new one?
I downloaded an electrical schematic, and was able to fix a couple of problems, unfortunately not the ones i was concentrating on.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

update
Found the sensors and I found the connections cracked (Very hard to get to). I will be ordering new ones. Hope that solves the problem. A big thank you to Porsche doc for the help. I will update when I have the new ones installed next week.
Is the reference sensor also known as a crank position sensor?
