Default new on here, 944 n/a owner

hello everyone!
i just picked up a 1987 porsche 944 n/a in guards red this summer. now it sleeps while i contemplate some upgrades. let me say that i am poor at turning a wrench. i've read a lot about cars and have been a porschephile for some time, yet i have accepted that my talents reside elsewhere. i'm crazy about the 944 body and, understanding the intrinsic limits of the base 2.5L engine, i am hoping to learn about some go-fast products which i can use on my ride.
i'd love to hear from other 944 owners who have had experiences (good and bad) with cold air intakes, engine upgrades, exhaust systems, etc. with their own 944s.
looking forward to meeting some good folks!
cheers, ferdinand

thanks Doc!

yeah, i've heard the stockstock headerswere pretty darn good in the 944.

as for others, i've heard lots of folks have good results with a dansk and billy boat (BB) systems.

btw, do you guys think swapping out the cat for a hi-flow cat will make a difference, assuming a hi-flow muffler install too? if so, does that hi-flow cat render the car not street-legal?? oops, i guess this stuff need to be in the 944 upgrades section!

You are talking extremely minimal gains to upgrade the exhaust on the 944 NA for the money spent. Basically all you will get out of it is a different toned exhaust. B&B does make nice exhaust systems.

Hi Ferdinand, im new to this site and a 944s2 owner, i am like you trying to upgrade on a budget, you can add 968 handles & mirrors, and small mods to the breathing system but after that it starts to get expensive. There are some nice 944s on cardomain, worth checking out, you can post pics of your car to.
Good luck with your car.
Regards stuart
