New to the Porsche community
Hey guys, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Arin (Its pronounced Aaron) and i've been into the automotive performance scene for quite a while now. I've always enjoyed porsches and i'm going to look for a 911 Carrera soon. Just wanted to say hello to everyone and express my undying passion for porsches.

Welcome. I also used to have an 2001 Acurac CL-S. Nice car except the "tiptronic-like" transmission would not downshift into 1st. I gave the car to my oldest son a couple of years ago when he needed a car and still see it from time to time. Still a good car but its been through several transmissions (all at Acurac's expense - long terms marranties sometimes pay off).
Anyway, glad you are here, and that you like Prosches and cars in general.

Thanks. Yes the transmissions on the CL's are a little difficult to work with. I've always been obcessed with high performance vehicles, from my supra twin turbo to my mr2 turbo which I sold. The only thing left was a porsche so I am now looking for the perfect 996.

I really think my 2004 996 tiptronic is just about perfect. I had to drive down to Charlotte from Raleigh today. My first trip in a hurry. It was terrible weather- fog and drizzle going down, fog and rain going down, heavy rain and haze coming back.
but I wanted to take backroads anyway. US64 and State 49, staying off the interstates all the way. Weather was really bad, but the car was fast, secure and safe the whole way back and forth.
In any type of road test, the tiptrtonic is slower than the 6-speed, but in day to day traffic it responds quicker with a flick of the finger on the downshift or a quick kick down. The car was just spectacular. I made the trip about 6 months ago in a 2004 Audi S4 (4.2 liter 340 HP V8) -- that car always impressed me whenever I drove it,but never felt as confidence-inspiring and safe as this one. this car just gobbled up the road.
Wonderful car.
