Default White smoke

My 996 , 2002 carrera blew a heap of white smoke on start up . I switched it of after it smoke didnt stop say about 10 - 15 sec max. I rang the dealer and they said its normal every now and then if oil sits in the combustion chamber. I havn't restarted until I am certain this is not a problem. Can anyone advise if they have experienced this problem. Car has done about 40,000km.

Usually is normal for up to 20 seconds or so. If it persists, then it is probably a bad oil air seperator.

It happen to me every so often, usually last about less than 10 seconds and it is done. If you ask the dealer, they will tell you the same, IT IS NORMAL. So, far, it does not cause any problem to me.
