Default 924

Hi my name is mike and i just joined!! I am in love with porsche like many of you are and i want to get a 924. For fun and possible to ride around a track every once in a while. would it be possible to install a turbo on a 924? Is there an exhaust system that i can get that will enable the 924 to sound outstanding? Thank you so much

Hi Mikey & welcome to the forum[sm=hiya.gif] Installing a turbo on a 924 is most probably possible, but it would be cost prohibitive. You would be better off just buying a 924 Turbo in the first place!

Essentialy there are four 924 types....the 924 (1984c.c. V.W. based engine), the 924 Turbo (1984c.c. V.W. based engine), the 924 Carrera G.T./G.T.S. (1984c.c. V.W. based engine) and the 924 S (2479c.c. Porsche 944 based engine)

Production of the 924 started in 1977 & finished in 1988.

I'm not sure how much it would cost to fit a turbo to a n/a 924, but remember that you would have to upgrade other componants such as the brakes etc.

I would look for a 924 S as they had 150/160bhp with a top speed of 134/137mph and a 0-62mph time of 8.5/8.2sec (In europe) while the 924 Turbo wasn't a great deal better with 170/177bhp, top speed of 140mph and a 0-60mph time of 7.8/7.7sec (again in europe).
