I've never heard of anyone having heart arrythmia or any of the other conditions you mention from static of the type generated by rubbing against a car: strictly speaking lightning is a type of static electricity so you are technically correct in your statement that it can do harm to humans, but the type of discharge caused by sliding across car seats, etc., this time of year, is miniscule compared to that and I have never heard any credible reports of it doing the damage you list (premature senility?
