The normal Carrera (C2) is rear wheel drive. A "4" is four wheel drive. An S, whether 2 or 4 wheel drive,is the more powerful motor, 3.8 liter vs. 3.6 liter (but a different motor, not just a bigger version of the 3.6). Prior to the newest '09 models with their direct injection, the power was 325/355 for the normal/S models and a bit of weight gain and extra drivetrain losses with the 4 wheel drive regardless of engine, but big gains in balance. (By the way, the extra 30 horses between the Carrera and Carrera S are really big horses, feels more like 40-50 to me).

Thanks for the info. Looks like I will be looking for an "S" model.
