Default 19" wheels or 18" wheels??

My '07 Targa 4 came from the factory with 19" turbo wheels. I'm nearing 30,000 miles and will have to purchase new tires soon. I wonder if It's worth replacing my wheels with 18's ?? There are only a very few tires made to fit the 19's but a much bigger choice if I go to 18's. I would like to hear from you out there as to the pro's & con's of switching.. Will I really notice a difference on the road?? Tire life?? Comfort??

Thanks in advance..

Steve in Saratoga Springs, NY

I' one of probably only a few who would recommend going with 18" wheels. Frankly, the narrow sidewalls of wide-radius wheels make for quick response but poor ride and few choices in tires. 18" inch will get the job done well and offer a wide choice of tires and now hassles. Just pay attention to the total rolling diameter, and make sure it stays the same, and you'll be okay.
