Default 1979 911

Hi Everyone! I am new here! still trying to figure my way around the forum. When I click on the 911 thread it only shows the 2 sticky at the top. If I do a search it brings up all the threads.

Anyway I just purchased a 1979 911. Thought I had it in my mind to buy a nice 911, restore it, and use it as a driver.

Found a 911 SC Targa 156K bought it for $7700. Picked it up yesterday and drove it back 4 hours. So yep it runs.

Im taking it to a mechanic/body guy on Tuesday so see what all it going to take to bring it up to snuff.

So far I can say
-there is high vibration in the steering wheel at speeds over 80
-it leans slightly to the left in the rear
-driver door replaced
-leaking small amount of oil when running

The paint is bad and needs touch up or repaint and the interior is good but needs small door panel repairs and a few *****.

Any one have any suggestions about how to approach this project. Things I should have him look for? The Mechanic is a Porsche guy, and Im sure he'll have his ideas as well.

Having a bit of "buyers remorse" here so I guess knowing the scope of the project will help.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Default fixed part of the problem

Hey fixed the part about not seeing all the posts by adjusting my "show threads" to last month.

This forum is well read it seems (usually over 100 people viewing) but not well responded too. Anyone suggest other forums on the internet? I am looking for discussion on older 911s in particular. Restoring the one I have is going to be a major project and need advice and counseling! Any suggestions?

Thus far on the 911

bad
master cylinder
rear axles
brake lines
main oil line

Body guy is having a fit about the hood, said it is a mess yet I just see a bunch of small repairs, no major accident damage. He's giving me quotes of $12,000 to repair and paint the car. Honestly the car isn't in that bad of shape! Getting second opinion today.
