911- STALLING WHEN STARTING
I have an 85 911 CARRERA which is well maintained and has app. 40,000 miles on it. I currently have a problem which I have not been able to correct which is dangerous as well as very aggravating.
The problem is that the car frequently starts to stall when starting in 1st and I usually can't do anything about it. This happening very early in acceleration and is very noticeable (the car bucks when it hits the flat spot during lower end acceleration (around 2000 RPM's). It is almost like the engine is stopping / missing for a split second and then either starting again or stoping. The idle is seems o.k except that its consistantly at app. 1000 rpm.s.
I believe this problem started after my faulty computer was replaced. Since then a lot was done to correct the stalling and idle problem including changing engine gaskets and the air flow valve. Nothing has completly worked.
Any suggestions re this will be very much appreciated particularly since I will be taking a road trip in the next 5-6 days and I may have the only 911 thats more dangerous at a stoplight than at the track
Thanks,
John
