Default Best model for a fun weekend driver 911

Thought (and still toy with) of the idea of getting a new 911 as a daily driver but my wallet tried to shoot me when I told it. It (the wallet) left me a very threatening note when i even looked at pictures of the Panamera.

So, here's what I'm thinking about - a nice older 911 to drive around on the weekends for fun. I'd also consider a 912. Not terribly knowledgeable about Porsche but I'm doing research now.

Big Question: What would be the best model/year/etc for what I'm looking for? In this role $30K would be the max budget to buy.

Thanks in advance,
Tony

There is a wide variety of cars that would meet your budget. Depends on if you want newish, older or older. Also depends if you want to tinker on, or just get in and drive the car and let someone else do the basic maintenance.

For a 30k budget, I would look hard at 993's.

A PPI with leakdown and compression tests is a must on any older.
