Default Console stack

I have a 2001 911 C2. I want to change the center stack around a little. I want to replace the double cup holders at the top of the stack (installed by dealer for original owner when new). Removal is simple. I want to place the climate control unit there (came from factory this way). My questions are these: 1) the cupholders are held in by 4 screws. The CC unit only has two on its frame. Do I need another inside bracket or will these two be sufficient--they do fit the bracket that is there? 2) How do I remove the harness from the CC unit to move it to the top of the stack. I have everything done but this because It is not obvious how to remove these and I don't want to break anything. It looks like the harness has four seperate plugs in the back of the unit. Do these pull out with a little effort, a lot of effort, have a release somewhere? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Also, my CDR 220 has an odd quirk. When I turn down the volume, it goes up and VV. When I switch tracks on the CD player--same thing. Sometimes its ok, most of the time no. Move slowly and it works better. Jumps from 14 to 11 and 17 to 24, etc....any thoughts> a new faceplate, refurbish? Anyone else experience this? Thanks, FSL
