Default Engine failure warranty

I currently own a 996 with extended warranty which will expire April of 2008. My car currently has 43000 miles on it. Will I be able topurchase another extended warranty for the car from the dealer or can I purchase an aftermarket warranty? I am mostly concerned about the engine failure I have been hearing about inthese model porsches. Thanks a lot.

Default RE: Engine failure warranty

I have a 1999 911 (996) which I bought new. I have not had any trouble with the car with the exception of the overflow bottle. Also non of my freinds have had any problems with theeir car engines.

I know the Boxtors for the first year or so had problems with the engine seizing. The sleeve tolerance for the pres fit into the cylinder was not correct. The sleeve in the engine would drop down atidle causing engine failure. I had two freinds that had the problem.

No one can tell you the car will not have any problems but that tends to be the norm for the Porsche 911's.

It is my understanding that extended warratnies can be purchased from companies for Porsche etc. Your dealer shoud have a contact for you. I personally never purchase more warranty on any of my cars

Just my point of view.

Good luck

Lee

Hi, Lee, you seems to know about Porsche, I have a 06 Boxster S, which is like the 05 cause they did not change much stuff between 05 and 06. Any known problem with the later model Boxster? Thanks

I recently got a quote from Carchex on an aftermarket warranty for my '99 996 Cabriolet with 44K miles. 5 year bumper-bumper warranty up to 100k miles was $3,800 with $100 deductible. For powertrain only it was $3,000.

My car has been a dream so far but was getting a quote out of curiosity.
