Default Engine misfire ( need help )

my 1996 993 is reading engine mis-fires on all 6 cyclinders and the porsche dealer told me its being caused by reference points in the clutch flywheel and it needs to be replaced. I hear no ticking or noise in the clutch. Does this sound like a correct diagnosis? Any help I can get would be greatly apprecaited.
