Hi all my name is Matt and im looking to buy this Porsche 911 or one like it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/black...#ht_500wt_1182

Im currently in a BMW 740 IL and its great! But its big and eats a lot of gas which isn't good for me seeing as I drive anywhere from 50-200 miles a day for my job. Plus I have always wanted a 911 Porsche. Basically what I want to know is, are these cars reliable as a daily driver? I have driven my bosses 07 a few times and LOVED it but he doesn't drive his like im going to be driving mine.

Wow. This has bad idea written all over it.

You want to drive this 50-200 miles a day? Say its only 5 days a week and its only the average of the two numbers - 125 miles. That is still over 32,000 miles a year, on a car that is 11 years old, that has 110,000 miles, and has rather high cost service, maintenance, and repair costs. In three years this car will have over 200K - you're going to pay to rebuild just about everything on it in three years. I think you would be better off at the end of three years to buy a new or maybe only two-year old one. If you can't afford that, then with all due respect, you sholuld not get into this one.

Yeah I have about 278k miles on my 01 740. I have rebuilt just about everything in that to. Overall shes been reliable but I want something really sporty and cool now. Maybe I should look for one with lower miles?

What do you guys think about this one? Its only 1k more with less then half the miles. I am strictly a DIYer are these cars really hard to work on? Is general maintenance pretty easy?
