I'm new here. Have always been a foreign car owner and love great cars. I have the chance to buy an '88 911 Carrera Cabriolet. I just looked at the car briefly. Has 89k miles and is Guards Red with Tan. I know absolutely nothing about the history. Car has been repainted at looks ok. Will get a CarFax before I do any serious talking. My recollection is that these had some ongoing problems with heat exchangers and cam tensioners but that is my only memory. I would appreciate it if someone would tell me what to look for and what this car is worth. TIA. Matt M

Don't trust Carfax, they can leave out lots of stuff, including accidents. Get the car inspected by an independent Porsche mechanic that you hire. This will cost you approximately $350.00 for a good, detailed inspection.

To find out what it's worth, go to http://www.edmunds.com / used cars, and punch in all the Porsche info they ask to get True Value Pricing. If you can get it around the Trade In value you are doing real good.

Good Luck!
