Default Rear Spoiler

I have a 2002 996 C2 and have notiticed some vibration at high speed acceleration. I have noticed that the stock rear spoiler isn't very rigid and am wondering if a fixed wing might offer more stability at speed. I also prefer the look of some of the fixed rear wings over the stock. I am interested in anyone's input on after-market wings and if you have noticed improved stability. Information on price and installation would be helpful.

A clarification. Are you saying the "vibration at high speed acceleration" is due to the spoiler? What type of vibration and at what speeds under what conditions?

I personally don't like the looks for most of the aftermarket fixed wings for the 996 and 997, but for quality I would start with the dealer's parts department and find out which brand they sell (then shope around on the internet for that brand - delaer charges a lot, probably).

I notice it from 100mph up 5th and 6th gear. Good road conditions, straight very little wind. It is less noticeable if I accelerate gradually. I don't know if the vibration is specifically due to the spoiler but was interested if anyone else has experienced this. The vibration doesn't affect the handling of the car, almost seems like a rumble. Could be engine vibration. This is my first 996 so I don't really have anything to compare it to.

Ya, what kind of vibration? Is it through the wheel or the seat? Both? I have a 996 factory Aero car with the full fixed wing and effect package. I have driven other 996's with out and never noticed any vib's even upto 150 mph. Sure you don't have a tire out of balance or maybe a bent rim. The factory aero wing look nice and bold on easy. If you want to look for a used one watch e-bay, when I was searching for may car I saw them on once and a while. Good luck with your concern.

I hear a little rumble, noise, which I have assumed is tire resonances or something, at around 100 in 5th or 6th, but never any vibration -- vibration is someting I feel through the seat or floor or (worst) steering wheel. I always assumed the rumble noise was just tires or drivetrain and that is was there all the time, but that I just could not heard it when accelerating.
