Default Replacing 911 Cabriolet Top

I have a 1985 911 Cabriolet, and the top is starting to show some significant wear. I want to replace the top, and got quoted $1,800 at the Porsche shop that I use. I found factory certified tops on the internet for $300-$600, but am curious if anyone has any experience putting one of these on themselves. From what I can tell, it doesn't look like it would be too bad of a job, but don't want to get in over my head. Any thoughts? Special tools needed? Reliable vendor to purchase from?

Thanks for any input. Mike

We always sub convertible top work out to a custom shop that needs with that. They are more complex then they appear.
